FO - Citron

Here is my Citron shawl.   It took me quite a while to knit it because I didn't work on it consistently.  I have been trying to sort out my wool stash which is definitely beyond life expectancy!

Anyway, I did manage to finish it.  Alexandra from Wool and Cotton kindly shared her notes and tips which was really kind and a great help.

I did eight repeats of the pattern and used Malabrigo Lace yarn in Pink Frost.  I used two skeins and just a little of the third (for two rows only).  I think I would probably have used less but my Citron met with a bit of an accident.   My mother-in-law got so enthusiastic about having a look at it that she got all tangled up in the yarn.  She then panicked and twisted around, breaking the yarn and ripping the knitting off of the needles.

I managed to repair it (after much sobbing from both of us).  The photos are pre-blocking.

I am really pleased with it.  I will definitely knit another.  I really like working with the Malabrigo Lace yarn.  It is sooo soft.

My notes on Ravelry here.

  1. Oh your poor mother in law. I bet she felt awful, but she is lucky you didn't smack her one! Malabrigo Lace is a lovely lovely yarn and I made a couple of Citron's in it. I also made one with multiple repeats with another lace yarn which I adored. I know I'll come back to this pattern as it is so simple but so beautiful too.

  2. I know how she felt. I recently did the same thing to a friend's very thin mohair scarf - pulled it clean off the needle! I couldn't apologise enough. This was me on a particularly clumsy day. :(

Your citron is lovely, I seem to prefer it in the larger size and would have gone for that myself had I the patience of a saint! I applaud you.

  4. Beautiful texture! And a lesson not to let earthlings touch your knitting! ;D

  5. Ooh it's beautiful!!! So happy you were able to get it back on the needles - I managed to pull quite a few stitches off the needles when I was knitting my Citron. Good thing the Malabrigo is a little sticky. Isn't it sooo soft?

  7. That is really gorgeous! You'd never know it had had a close encounter with your mother-in-law. I can almost feel it through my computer screen. Well done you!

  8. I find that I am too impatient when it comes to knitting shawls, and a setback like yours would have probably sent this gorgeous shawl to the time-out basket. It looks so lovely and light.
