I haven't posted for a while because I have been a bit under the weather. It was a fluey type bug but not the full blown variety. It did knock me off my feet for a little while but I am back now and feeling much better.
I haven't really done an awful lot but I did manage to make it to the John Lewis sale yesterday and picked up a few bargains. I also bought some foam squares from the Early Learning Centre in a sale to use as blocking boards.
I hope to have some finished objects to post soon (once they have been blocked and photographed). How exciting!
The photo at the top has nothing to do with the post really. I thought it was quite representative of a long hot summer. A tree in a field like this always makes me think of Tess of the D'Urbevilles. I don't know why.
Sorry to hear you have been feeling poorly. Hope you're back normal soon. I use foam squares for blocking, they work really well!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I feel much better now. I have to admit that it will be my first attempt at blocking so I will let you know how I get on. I have never bothered before but have seen such differences in other people's knitting that I think it is definitely worth it. I am a bit unsure but I am going to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteI have 4 blocking squares I won at a knitting-type event, but I need more to block out a scarf/shawlette. I've never blocked before either, but did block out two shawlettes this past week - laying them out on a spare bed and pinning them down. Worked pretty good, actually. One of the shawls still rolls along the edge, so I suppose I need to block it again.
ReplyDeleteI think it is worthwhile and a good skill to learn. The foam blocks I got are actually quite large, about two foot square, and there are four of them. I think they are supposed to be put under a childrens toy to stop them hurting themselves if they fall but I am sure they will work admirably.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my blog :) Tess of the D'Urbevilles was one of my favourite novels during my studies thanks to a fantastic professor we had.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better! That does look like a long, hot summer picture! We are just now getting summer starting this week. Now we are breaking records for temps in Seattle! We have no air conditioning in the house so it is quite hot inside as well as out. Great ideas about the blocking foam!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon!!!!
